Biography Pilinszky János 1921 Budapesten született 1938 jogot, magyar irodalmat és mûvészettörténetet tanul a budapesti egyetemen, de diplomát nem kap 1938 elsõ verseit közlik az irodalmi lapok 1944 Németországban katona, aztán hadifogoly 1946-47 az Újhold társszerkesztõje 1947-48 Rómába utazik 1957 az Új Ember címû katolikus hetilap munkatársa 1960-70 európai és amerikai felolvasókörutakon vesz részt 1981 Budapesten meghal Fõbb díjai: 1947 Baumgarten díj, 1971 József Attila díj, 1980 Kossuth díj
